To earn the NASRO National SRO Practitioner certificate, Deputy Diaz had to meet rigorous training and experience requirements that demonstrate a high level of expertise and commitment. These include:
•Completing NASRO's 40-hour Basic School Resource Officer course, which provides foundational knowledge in school-based law enforcement, youth engagement, and crisis response.
•Successfully finishing either NASRO's 24-hour Advanced School Resource Officer course or the NASRO Supervisor Training course, focusing on advanced strategies for mentoring, program management, and addressing complex school safety challenges.
•Attending the NASRO National Conference to stay at the forefront of best practices in school resource programs.
•Accumulating at least 160 additional hours of certified training in relevant areas such as interview and interrogation techniques, criminal law, crisis intervention, child abuse investigation, community-oriented policing, and juvenile delinquency.
•Maintaining active membership in NASRO and submitting a comprehensive application with documentation of all qualifications.
This process ensures that only the most qualified and experienced officers receive the Practitioner designation, setting a national standard for excellence in the field.
