STOP for school buses - it's the law!
Back-to-school season is an important time for our entire community.
Students return to class, teachers implement new lesson plans, and administrators focus on budgets, school bus routes, and safety concerns.
Parents coordinate work and school schedules, manage carpools, and support their children's activities and studies. It's a busy time for all of us.
During this hectic period, please be extra cautious when driving. Be mindful of school traffic zones, especially during morning hours and early afternoons. Keep an eye out for potential hazards around schools and in neighborhoods where children play. Slow down and increase your stopping distance. School buses are back on the road, so be aware of their routes in your neighborhood and during your daily travels. Allow plenty of time and space for buses to maneuver. With increased school traffic, expect delays and leave early to avoid rushing. When approaching a school zone or a school bus, be prepared to stop for both bus and pedestrian traffic.
I want to thank everyone who contributes to making our education system a vital and positive force in our community. Our children rely on us-let's work together to ensure that the back-to-school season is rewarding, enjoyable, and safe for all St. Clair County residents.
Thank you,
Billy J. Murray
