Pursuit on I-20

Incident- 10-100 originating in Jefferson County

Location- I-20 eastbound from Vestavia to Georgia

 

During the early morning hours central dispatch notified St. Clair County Sheriff's Office of a vehicle pursuit that was initiated in Jefferson County and headed eastbound on I-20.

The suspect fleeing, Marcus Andrew Eaddy, was driving a blue Chrysler 200.   

The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division entered the pursuit and continued eastbound. During the pursuit deputies received gunfire from the suspect's vehicle and subsequently returned fire.

As the chase continued Eaddy's vehicle was traveling at extremely high speeds and was spiked by Heflin Police Department.

The suspect continued into Georgia where the St. Clair County Patrol Division was joined by Oxford Police Department, Heflin Police Department, Cleburne County Sheriff's Office, and Haralson County Sheriff's Office. The pursuit ended at Georgia mile marker 4 in Tallapoosa where the suspect's vehicle crashed. The suspect then engaged law enforcement with gunfire.

The suspect is in custody and being treated at a local hospital. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation.

We are thankful there were no injuries to any civilians or law enforcement during this incident.
