SRO Course

Sergeant Alec Bosworth, Deputy Alexander Scott, Deputy Ariel Herren, and Deputy Danielle Alexander attended the Basic SRO course with NASRO over spring break. The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office Team of thirteen school resource officers are now basic SRO certified.

The forty-hour (40) training is designed to prepare school resource officers to help fulfill their roles in the school setting effectively. The course equips officers to develop successful relationships with students and to support students with disabilities and behavioral health challenges. Topics explored are relevant public safety topics, such as digital safety, human trafficking, mental health, substance abuse, and learning the best practices for de-escalation, behavioral threat assessment, and emergency operations planning.

"We are committed to continuing education for the development of skills and strategies to improve the overall safety in our schools."

Billy J. Murray, Sheriff
